This diet has been shown through research in more than 1.5 million adults by demonstrating that this diet was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular mortality and overall mortality. The Mediterranean diet is also associated with reducing the development of cancer, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s. Women who followed this diet can supplement with extra-virgin olive oil and mixed nuts to reduced the risk of breast cancer.
