Metabolic Syndrome:  Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that anyone can have. It has five risk factors which include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and high triglyceride levels.  By having three out of five risk factors can increase an individual’s risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Some of the most noticeable symptoms like having a large waist circumference is a visible sign. If an individual’s blood sugar is very high, they might have signs and symptoms of diabetes, which includes having increased thirst, urination, fatigue, and blurred vision. Metabolic syndrome causes both men and women to have an apple or pear-shaped bodies causing them to be obese or overweight. With metabolic syndrome, it can cause insulin resistance causing the individual to be pre-diabetic. Normally, the digestive system breaks down foods into glucose and the insulin hormone is made by the pancreas that helps sugar enter the cells to be used as fuel. When the person has a high glucose level, the cells don’t respond normally to insulin, and glucose can’t enter the cells as easily. As a result, the glucose levels in the blood rise despite the body’s attempt to control it by churning out more and more insulin causing metabolic syndrome.
