Mind Body and Spirit: The mind, body, and spirit connection is truly a powerful thing. By understanding and tapping into its power, it provides the three phases of holistic healing. Indigenous people understand that the concept of the mind and body is one and it has been part of their belief and healing system for thousands of years. They also understand that a healthy mind is needed to create a healthy body. So not only the body needs to heal but sometimes the mind and spirit need it too. If the body is sick then the mind or spirit may be the culprit. If that is the case then healing the mind can help heal the body. With this understanding, it has shaped to be the modern day mind-body medicine. The mind has two levels that are known as the personal and collective. An individual can participates in both whether they know it or not. The personal level can process old thoughts and new ones back and forth like a zip line. By disciplining the mind, it is one of the most difficult but important things one can do for their health and wellbeing. One must learn to keep that software on and in the present, in order to achieve the contribution to an improved collective mind.
