Many people do not realize how much their feet have to do with their posture. In all reality, the feet can be held responsible for aches and pains in the ankles, knees, hips, lower back, shoulders, and neck. With aches and pains in this area, often times our posture is affected. On top of this, the weight of the human head has an average of 10-12 pounds. If you are having aches and pains coupled with bad posture, the added weight of your head not being in the proper position can really throw the bodies alignment off. Proper weight distribution in the feet is designed to support the body optimally. However, with the shoes that we wear now and the lifestyles we live, our arches are collapsing. With the arches collapsing we are seeing an increased amount of weight in the arches and bad posture to accompany this. Custom orthotics take the pressure of the arches and distribute the weight where it needs to be. For example, we have three arches. The medial arch, the lateral arch, and the anterior transverse arch. These arches are all specific and perform different duties. It is important to treat each one of these arches individually and specifically. Custom foot orthotics take an image of your feet and combine it with a mathematical equation to design an orthotic that will put the body at its optimal distribution. With these, you can ensure that the body will react by minimizing aches and pains and providing you with optimal performance and function. Dr. Jiminez has the ability and the technology to scan each patient’s foot and evaluate them for custom orthotics. Custom orthotics are made with a variety of fabrics and designs to ensure the perfect fit for your lifestyle and activities. According to research studies, custom orthotics enhance overall function. -Kenna Vaughn, Senior Health Coach
